More than 100 houses were destroyed by a fierce fire in Matihani Municipality, Mahottari.
Hariprasad Mandal, the mayor of Matihani, stated that 125 houses were burned down by a fire that started in a house at 1 o’clock in the afternoon in Matihani Municipality’s Jarlahwagachi Tol.
The fire was brought under control after 6 hours with the assistance of villagers from Dhanusha, Mahottari, and 10 fire brigades, along with over 300 security personnel and excavators.
Residents from communities such as Dhanuk, Muslim, Paswan, Malah, Bin, and others were affected by the fire when strong winds exacerbated the situation.
Mahottari Police Spokesperson DSP Santulal Jayaswar mentioned that details of 92 burned houses have been gathered so far, and efforts are ongoing to gather more information. Although there was no loss of human life in the fire, DSP Jayaswar confirmed that 5 goats and two pigs perished.
The residents are facing difficulties after their houses were burned down. Matihani Mayor Hari Prasad Mandal has appealed for assistance for the fire victims.
