Nepali Congress MP Yuvraj Sharma and CPN-Maoist Narayan Dahal have filed their candidacies for the National Assembly Speaker.
On Monday morning, Sharma filed his candidacy at the Federal Parliament Building, New Baneshwar.
Congress MP Anand Prasad Dhungana is the proposer of Sharma, while MP Kiran Babu Shrestha is the supporter. Congress is also supported by the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party (LSP) in the National Assembly.
LSP MP Shekhar Kumar Singh is also a supporter of Sharma’s candidacy.
Elections for the post of National Assembly Speaker will be held on Tuesday.
The National Assembly has 16 MPs from Congress and 1 MP from LSP. Similarly, Gopi Sarki Achhami of Maoist is the proposer of Dahal’s candidacy from the ruling coalition, and Devendra Dahal of CPN-UML, Beduram Bhusal of CPN (Unified Socialist), and Mohammad Khalid of JSP are the supporters.
